Meet the Teacher/School Supply Drop Off Day

Hosting a school supply drop off day, prior to the first day of school, is great way for you to meet the students and their parents. It is also a great opportunity to start building positive parent-teacher relationships!

I like to print off these notes and put them down on each student’s desk so that they know what to do.

Back to School Creative Writing Activty

Do you need few minutes of peace and quiet these first few days of school? I don’t know about you…but I do SO much talking at the beginning of the year. Bathroom procedures, fire drill expectations, school/classroom rules…it seems like it never ends! This is a great activity to use when you need some “teacher time!” I like to use this activity on a Friday afternoon during the first full week of school- when we all are exhausted!!

This activity will get your kiddos up and moving, engaged from beginning to end! This activity will allow you some much needed “teacher time!” :)

If so..I “Mustache” You a Question…Do you need some inspiration to turn your boring and redundant classroom expectation lessons into a more engaging activity?

Jazz it up by using an interactive mustache theme!! Students use mustaches as props to ask questions about the expectations in the classroom and create an Venn diagram, which can be used as an adorable back to school bulletin board!! Social and Emotional Learning: Cooperative Group Kindness Skits!

Are you looking for a way to teach empathy and kindness, while addressing Social and Emotional Learning Standards, as well and the Speaking and Listening standards?

Students work in cooperative groups to act out one of the scenarios presented to them- a great way to incorporate character education and common core! (Speaking and Listening Standards)

There are so many other ways to use the scenarios presented in this file. These scenarios can also be used for:
1. Teaching the Social and Emotional Learning Standards

2. Teaching the expectations/rules at the beginning of a new school year

3. Writing prompts- students can write and reflect as part of their writing workshop or “seat work” at the beginning of the day

4. Character education

When I saw that Melonheadz Graphics came out with an *ADORABLE* mustache clip art set, I was instantly inspired to create this file and whipped it up in no time! I am a tad bit obsessed with the “mustache you a question” theme and I can’t wait to use them during the first weeks of school starting.

So, I “mustache” you a question… are you looking for a fun way “getting to know you activity?” Or, a fun way to help new students feel welcome?
