Rmote learning, distance learning, online learning…who would have ever thought that teachers would be teaching this way in 2020?? This is usually the time of summer where I am visiting the Dollar Spot for teaching goodies at Target, getting awesome ideas from teachers on social media, and going into school to start setting up and organizing my classroom for a new group of second graders.
But as with everything right now, things are just so different. Teachers and education are literally the talk of the news. You just can’t escape the anxiety the uncertainty is bringing up. As of right now, as of today…we are going back to school in person for four days a week (with a staggered schedule) and will have one day for remote learning. Will that change? Your guess is as good as mine and time will tell. In the meantime, I am trying to wrap my brain around how distance learning or remote learning will look like at the start of a new school year.
I wanted to prepare for online learning by creating a social story that I could read aloud to my new group of students, via Zoom. Online learning, distance learning, remote learning…this new format for teaching and learning is a lot for little kids to digest!
This social story tells a story about a little boy, Logan, who will be learning from home this year, due to Covid-19. I describe what a day is like for Logan, from start to end!
This story is one that students of all ages will be able to relate to and connect with.
This story has a color and also black/white option for your printing preferences. You can also use the black and white option as a coloring book for students.

I also created another social story, more geared towards younger students, about wearing a mask. Wearing a mask, or seeing other people wear masks, can cause uncertainty, curiosity, or anxiety in many children.
This social story was created to bring an understanding to children, about how and why we are currently wearing masks.
