Stop and Jot Reading Strategy

Do your students love sticky notes as much as mine? If so, I have a super engaging reading lesson for you to teach to your students! In this blog post, I will show you how I teach my students to stop and jot as an important reading strategy.

In this video, I share with you how I teach my students to use sticky notes as a way to show what they are thinking as they are reading. When we ask students to write about what they are reading, we can clearly see their level of comprehension. In my own classroom, I have used successfully used reader’s notebooks with my own second and third graders, as a way to for them to express their thinking about what they are reading. I created this short video to show you how I teach my students to use sticky notes for their reader’s notebooks.
