On my Instagram page today, I posted a picture of how I was drowning in a sea
of Fountas and Pinnell books and recording sheets. Gone are the days where my
district provides classroom teachers with a substitute and we have all glorious
day to assess our students….nope, not any more. Now, we just have to assess our
students during the school day, instead of meeting with guided reading
groups.
I really enjoy testing my students with Fountas and Pinnell! I love
the one on one (hopefully!) uninterrupted time and seeing how much progress my
students are making.
After I finish reading with each student, I have him/her fill out the
“Reading Progress” reflection below:
younger grades, because it only goes up to level L.
I like to send these home with the last quarter report card.

A great way for students to see their progress – definitely trying this out next year!
