Throughout the year, I try to find ways for my students to express their appreciation for the staff members at our school. I love how excited my students get when they participate in random acts of kindness during the month of December, so I try to think of as many ideas as I can for other times throughout the year. Which brings me to Valentine’s Day! Today I will share a fun little way to “Spread the Love” this Valentine’s Day, by having your students create valentines for their favorite staff members!
Here’s how it works! Students randomly select one staff member’s name. Or, you can have your students choose who they would like to write a letter to. For example, I have a group of students who work once or twice a week with the SLP and/or the social worker. I have other students who have a close relationship with the reading specialist at our building since she reads with them every day for 30 minutes. Another student “checks in” and “checks out” with a fourth-grade teacher.
Once a special staff member is selected, the students write the top 5 reasons why that staff member ROCKS!
Then attach the cover page and have the lucky student deliver the valentine to the principal, secretary, library/gym teacher, social worker, and any other important staff member! You can certainly attach a sweet treat to the valentine as well!
I also included a few fun templates for the students to write love notes to each other. Click here to download this fun freebie!
Looking for a few last minute Valentine’s Day Party ideas?! Last year, I blogged about some simple games that I am reposting today. Click here to view the ideas behind the pictures below!
I hope you enjoy your Valentine’s Day, my friends!

I tried to download Spread the Love, but there isn’t a link that takes me to the freebie.
