“I have to use reading workshop. My district is not giving any professional development to actually teach us HOW to implement this into our classroom. I am so confused. Where do I even begin?”
“My students are not engaged in reading. Some of them don’t even like to read. When it is reading time, they are talking, playing with things in their desk, drawing, or just off-task. I don't know how to motivate them to want to read.”
“What does a reading workshop schedule look like? I can’t wrap my brain around how to manage all the different components of reading.”
“Should I do centers or the workshop model? I have never done reading workshop and I am unsure how it looks and if I have to do centers.”
Professional development videos to explain, model, and teach you HOW to establish and maintain reading workshop in your classroom.
A community of like minded educators that you can turn to when you need help, encouragement, inspiration…or just want to celebrate!
Using a reading workshop approach to teach reading has absolutely transformed my teaching. I used to spend hours on my weekends planning and prepping literacy centers for my students. I was so overwhelmed! I was not satisfied with the progress my students were making and hated seeing their lack of engagement with reading. After learning about the workshop model to teach reading and spending time to implement it with integrity, I can now say that my students and I are absolutely THRIVING!
Long gone are the days where I spend hours over the weekend prepping and planning all my literacy centers. No more spending loads of money on centers that I purchased from the local teacher store. No more searching online for different ideas of how to engage my students with their reading.
If you are struggling to use reading workshop effectively, looking for ways to engage your readers, or just need more support and guidance to build your confidence while teaching reading, hear me when I say, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I created this membership because I want to help YOU implement and sustain a successful workshop in YOUR classroom.
Together, we will collaborate to create a class community of engaged and independent readers!

Hello there! I am Melissa, the founder of Inspiring All Readers. I have been teaching for 19 years. I have taught kindergarten, first, second, and third grade, and I am currently teaching second grade in a Title One school in the suburbs of Chicago.
I achieved National Board Certification in 2007 and recertified in 2017. I have my Master’s Degree (plus 40 hours) in Teaching and Leadership. After 16 years in the classroom, I had the opportunity to work with other teachers as a Teaching Learning Coach. As a TLC, I worked one-on-one with classroom teachers, reading teachers, and also with grade level teams. I helped teachers and PLC’s to implement best teaching practices in reading, presented professional development on reading workshop, and worked side by side with administration to support teachers.
I left this position to go back into the classroom because I missed having my own classroom and working with kids. Having the opportunity to work with teachers in the Inspiring All Readers Membership while also still teaching is the best of both worlds!
On a personal level, my number one way to de-stress is to head to the gym and work out my aggravation and frustration.
I never get tired of watching The Office reruns and love watching the NBA so much that my Christmas present was the NBA league pass.
I have a huge sweet tooth and spend most Saturday mornings enjoying my Starbucks coffee with donuts from our local bakery.
I adore my puppy Max, who we adopted in the summer of 2020. Part cattle dog/hound dog, he has endless energy and we walk him about five miles every day.
As a second grade teacher, I am “in the trenches” working right alongside you. Hear me when I say that I completely understand how you are feeling. As educators, our to-do list is never-ending. Not only are we responsible for teaching all subjects to our students, but we are also expected to do so with little to no training, support, or guidance. On top of that, we are helping our students with their social and emotional needs as well. It is no wonder why our bucket is empty by the end of the day!
I created the Inspiring All Readers Club to help make your teaching life easier and more manageable, by supplying you with support, resources, and lessons to help you become a more confident teacher.
Creating a classroom community of engaged and independent readers starts from day one of the school year! I created 26 different graphic organizers and a free reading response journal to inspire your readers!
Each graphic organizer correlates to a story that promotes inclusion, kindness, and empathy! Download today for free!
