There are also several templates for students to write their letter of appreciation, to each other! This activity, I call Student Surprise, is a great writing activity to do in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Every day, a new student is randomly chosen to to write about. The student that is randomly chosen colors the cover page of their book while the rest of the class writes a friendly letter to the student. In the letter, the students write about why the child is special and a gift to our classroom. This makes the PERFECT gift to give to your students- as they will be sure to treasure this!

1. Awesome Adjectives that Describe Me!
Children love everything! As educators, we need to encourage them to love themselves! This is a great lesson on self-esteem, but also integrates writing, reading, and art. What better time to teach these lessons than during Valentine’s Day? Although they can be taught any time of the year, I like to capitalize on the “love theme” of the month! This is a 15 page file that includes cute and colorful bulletin board headers, tracers, directions, student pages, and lots of pictures of the process and finished project.

2. Valentine Cinquain Gift
This is dedicated to the one I love! Students will write a cinquain to a special person in their life. This 6 page document includes directions, pictures, bulletin board sign, art project, sloppy copy and final copy forms.

3. Love is in the air…Have a heart…
Use these heart-related idioms to teach your students about figurative and literal language. Includes note for the teacher and a 4-page worksheet.

4. Taking Care of My Heart
Keep it beating! This 8 page document includes a unit plan, pictures, parent homework, interactive activity, and culminating project and reflection.

5. Who Stole My Heart?
Have your students put their detective skills to the test when you teach them about fingerprints. To top it off, they will use their own prints to figure out who stole the missing hearts! 14-page file.

6. Your Health is in Your Own Two Hands
You can use this as a health (body systems), writing (expository), or a “love” lesson during the month of February! 5 pages

7. Kiss N’ Tell
Students learn that good writers use all five of their senses to write descriptively. File includes directions, bulletin board headers, pictures, a craft idea, and a graphic organizer. (7 pages total)
