Arrival of White Boards!

Our new dry erase white boards were installed today!!!!
It’s the little things, my friends…the little things that make our day.
On Friday, we cleared off our OLD SCHOOL CHALKBOARD and left it like this:

And today, we returned to find our new dry erase white boards installed—FINALLY!!!!

This is my 12th year teaching and this is my first time that I get a white board!!!! I know what you are thinking…welcome to the 21st century…right??? Smile Our school may be a *tad* bit behind with the technology times.
I even found some nice new Expo markers from a teacher on my desk this morning! Thanks, Abbey!

Nicole and I are keeping our fingers crossed! Rumor has it that we might be so lucky to get Smart Boards for the next school year! All we will need is a phone in our classroom (not kidding!) and we will be set!!!
On the complete opposite end of the technology spectrum…I found two new blogs that I wanted to share with you!

Matt, is a special education resource teacher who works at my boyfriend’s school. He started an awesome blog (and TpT store!), which has a ton of technology tips and tricks for you! He also makes and sells his own clip art, many which are freebies!! Digital Divide and Conquer

Another blog I recently discovered is Kristin’s blog. Kristin and I have been emailing back and forth ever since I found out that she lives in Illinois, too! In fact, she lives about 45 minutes away and currently lives in the same town I grew up in!
Kristin has some awesome QR code scavenger hunt freebies for you- go check them out!
So…I have to ask…does anyone else out there still have chalkboards?!?! What is the technology like in your classroom/school? What are you *wishing* for???

Have a great night! (Go Bulls!!) Smile

  1. Congrats on the whiteboards!!! That is something to celebrate! We have chalkboards, so I have to use showerboard and smaller dry erase papers to make the whiteboard surface.

My tech wish is for a class set of iPads!! :)

  2. I have always had a whiteboard, until this year. I moved to the "older" part of the building and the boards are ALMOND colored. It's like being stuck in an 80s kitchen. My building participated in the eMINTS program, which means we have SMARTboards. If you get one you will love it!! We also have mini laptops. They are great. Our district just switched to a Mac platform, so I know the laptop life span is short lived. I am wishing for iPads.

PS. I wish I didn't have a classroom phone it gives worrisome parents a reason to leave you a message every morning!

  3. Hello
We were still using chalkboards at our school until a few months ago but a few months ago parent teacher association bought smart boards for the 6th , 7 th and 8th graders. Ans the other grades will get one next year though the calibration is not successful in my class so I cannot use it properly.

  4. THANKS for the Mention! It means a lot and I'm truly greatful for it.

Switching gears…Congrats on the whiteboard. For me, it makes a great difference with the kids because we can color code evertyhing, but also it is such an easier way to write.

..and speaking about technology I have a projector aimed at my screen and simply use that as my intereactive smartboard. We annotate and write over whatever we have on the board which works out well.

    THANKS again,
    matt
